Crazy Shirts legacy began in 1964, when Rick Ralston founded one of the first companies in the world to sell the modern “T-Shirt” using distinctive designs that reflect the exuberant Island lifestyle. Ralston set-up shop on a Waikiki sidewalk charging $5 to airbrush monsters, hot rods and surfing scenes on T-shirts. Purchased by Only the Best, Inc. in 2001, our brand has evolved into an internationally recognized casual apparel brand. Now in its 55th year, we have expanded to include hundreds of unique products, 33 retail store locations throughout California, Nevada, Florida, Hawaii, Colorado and an ever growing direct-mail catalog and ecommerce business, as well as wholesale and even custom order. Over all of these years, our guiding principals have remained unchanged: Crazy Shirts’ commitment to the finest quality apparel and superior customer service. Crazy Shirts remains fanatically committed to the finest quality apparel, exclusive artwork and superior customer service.
Crazy Shirts heritage is deeply ingrained in the Hawaiian Culture. From our humble beginnings, it has always been the ambition to transport our fans on the endless adventure in everyday life. Whether you are sitting on a beach in Hawaii or skiing the slopes of Colorado, we have set out to capture fun and adventure where ever our fans find themselves.
STILL CRAZY AFTER ALL THESE YEARS
In 1982, Crazy Shirts opened their custom build corporate offices in Halawa Valley, where it employs 300 plus employees and is still going strong. This beautiful building was created for the company in the 1980s and everything about it, from its yellow cedar exterior to the antiques inside, befits a company whose workers call each other “Crazies”. The overarching theme that permeates through everything we do is making items that are classic and maintain a level of creativity and irreverence in design and, in a lot of ways, we create or help people save memories.
Crazy Shirts is known for offering exceptional quality and craftsmanship which are the hallmarks of the brand today. We have cultivated years of experience and refined our expertise in product research and development to continue to deliver the unique and original products that stand the test of time. We pioneered original products and fabrics, such as our “specialty dyed” garments (including Kona coffee, Volcanic ash, Blue Hawaii Curacao liqueur and many others) and the very popular “Hydro-print” board shorts and shirts that change design when wet. The powerful combination of fit, form and fun has propelled Crazy Shirts to the top of the highly competitive world of retail apparel.
Crazy Shirts retail stores offer premium products you won't find anywhere else. With 23 stores spread across the four Hawaiian Islands and 12 on the mainland, we’ve come a long way from our modest beginnings nearly 54 years ago as a small t-shirt airbrushing business on the sidewalks of Waikiki. Two of our latest additions are Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington, Beach CA and The Shops at Kukui Ula in Poipu, Kauai.
